Choirfest Christmas 2018

November 28, 2018

Last year we were thrilled to be invited by Bersted Arts to perform in their new Choir Festival at The Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis.

With the increasing number of community choirs popping up over the last few years, Choirfest is a great idea.

Last Sunday The Igloo Choir performed at the first Christmas themed Choirfest, alongside RAFA, Inspirations, Arun A Capella and The Bersted Boys. The concert was full of Christmas favourites from the contrasting groups.

We had a fabulous time rehearsing for this event, and a huge amount of effort went into costumes.

As luck would have it, Ice Skating On The Parade was open right next door to the theatre, complete with European Christmas market and giant snow globe. Having been talked down that 11 of us couldn’t get in all at once, we divided into elves and angels and had our pictures taken in two groups. Hayley, our fairy, described the experience as a ‘dream come true’.

More excited than ever for the show, we made our way back into the dressing room (after singing at the light up snowman in the foyer) and took some more pictures of each other backstage.
Despite having 7 of our number unable to join us, I was so proud of how the choir performed, bringing Christmas cheer and gorgeous singing to the show. We enjoyed using our candles, twinkle lights and bells, and the audience singing along with our medley.

All the groups were fantastic, and our finale of ‘Christmas Cannon’ performed by all singers was met with huge cheering and applause.

We can’t wait to be back at The Regis Centre next March for the spring event.
